چکیده

In this paper, we propose a new measure for estimating defocus blur in document images and compare it with a good existing method proposed in [1]. This new measure is the average value of blur levels of edge points detected by the method proposed in [2]. This method uses three edge models (transition, peak and line) and analytically calculates their maxima functions. Then maxima functions of the input image are calculated at possible edge locations. By comparing maxima function with the models, the type of the edge and then the blur level can be estimated. We apply this measure to some document images and compare it with the measure of [1].

Improving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image

Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...

A Survey on Efficient No-reference Blur Estimation Methods

Blur estimation in image processing has come to be of great importance in assessing the quality of images. This work presents a survey of no-reference blur estimation methods. A no-reference method is particularly useful, when the input image used for blur estimation does not have an available corresponding reference image. This paper provides a comparison of the methodologies of four no-refere...

A Dataset for Quality Assessment of Camera Captured Document Images

With the proliferation of cameras on mobile devices there is an increased desire to image document pages as an alternative to scanning. However, the quality of captured document images is often lower than its scanned equivalent due to hardware limitations and stability issues. In this context, automatic assessment of the quality of captured images is useful for many applications. Although there...

Blur Detection for Historical Document Images

FamilySearch captures millions of digital images annually using digital cameras at sites throughout the world. The top image quality problem encountered during this image capture process is blurriness due to an out of focus camera and/or motion during capture. Several automatic measurements of digital image blur exist, but have been found to not be very accurate at correctly classifying blurry ...

Motion Blur : Analysis and Restoration

Motion blur is a phenomenon which is corrupting images when, any motion occurs between the camera viewpoint and the captured scene during the acquisition. Rarely this can be described with a shift invariant operator although this is a common assumption in the literature. In a motion blurred image, the Point Spread Function (PSF) of each pixel is determined by the relative motion between the cam...
